The archived thread on this topic has been archived, and the "answer" did not address the need. It appears that Amazon, ebay and other sites prevent this happening, overwriting the search and frequently also deleting the trail of previous occupants of the tab.

I do not want Bezos etc to control how I use my computer, or Firefox. Please provide a fix for this defect.
