Firefox Desktop Crashing Issues

I like to keep two browsers (Firefox and Chrome) and windows with multiple tabs open at the same time, but has created a recurring issue:

1) At varying intervals of frequency (sometimes once a week, sometimes once over the span of months), my browser and/or computer crashes and when I reopen Firefox my previous session has disappeared and does not show as an option to "restore previous session" or have any of the windows/tabs listed in the history menu. When I reopen Firefox it can trigger the windows I have open in Google Chrome's browser to close and reopen with a previous session and create the same issue in that browser as well (where I cannot find any of the windows/tabs I just had open seconds before this weird glitch occurs), but it doesn't happen every time. Google Chrome crashing seems to occasionally have the same effect on Firefox as well, but occurs less frequently. If one of the browsers crashes again, it will sometimes then restore the session prior to the one it just restored (after I have tried to recreate it by opening as many tabs as I can recall I had open), so it seems like it's storing the data of these sessions somewhere, but not giving me a way of accessing them / switching to them on my own without something going wrong first (e.g. browser or computer crashing). Any ideas as to what is going on? 2) On a related note to the above issue: does Firefox allow for multiple simultaneous sessions (with separate browsing windows/tabs)? If so, is there a way to switch between them? 3) Is there a way to search my history on the desktop browser and filter out the history from the Firefox app on my iPhone separately?

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated! Please let me know what further information would be helpful to diagnose.
