Print function missing images and won't customize page range

Thunderbird's print function now has two problems. The print command still takes me to print preview, but then the problems appear. First, the preview has a blank area in place of the image in the message. Since that image is a QR code admitting me to something for which I've paid, in effect it is cheating me of my money! Actually continuing to print produces the message on paper but without that image.

Second, when I try to choose a page range other than ALL, I see only one other option, Custom. (Firefox instead in print preview also has the choices of odd and even pages.) That's fine, and selecting custom then opens a small field in which to type my choice. But the moment I type, say, "2," the print preview closes and the print option is lost . . . unless I chose the print command all over again, and the vicious cycle continues.
