Tapping Firefox Focus URL bar changed from select all to cursor at end of URL

Hi,

I have been using Ff Focus for years and love it.

When I want to navigate to a site, I want to tap the URL bar and type the URL (or first letter of using the handy auto-complete). That used to work well. Maybe 2 months ago, the behavior of the URL bar seems to have changed.

Before, when I tapped the URL bar, all text would be selected. That made it easy to begin typing and overwrite the existing URL. Now, when I tap the URL bar, the cursor is placed at the end of the current URL. To erase the existing URL, I have to additionally tap the little X. It is small and hard to accurately tap. I often have to tap it several times.

The new behavior is less desirable. Most of the time when I tap the URL bar, it is because I want to type in a new URL. It is almost never the case that I want to append text to the URL.


I suppose this new behavior solves the problem that if I want to highlight only a portion of the URL, it is easier. It used to be very difficult to remove the selection when all text was selected.

I understand it’s impossible to please everyone. I just wanted to give feedback that the new behavior is less than ideal for me.
