Problem with sign-on and passwords on an iPad

Running Firefox, and going to a web site, when the ID and password are automatically filled in, the web site does not recognize that the password is filled in unless I type something in that field. Most simply I type one extra character at the end of the field then promptly delete that character. Then the sign-on proceeds normally. Also, until I type in the field the button to show the password is either missing or non-functional. This behavior has been observed on two sites: a banking site and a medical site. I have yet to determine how many different sites behave in this manner.
