possible phishing link that just led to a blank screen?

Hi, I clicked on a link inside a Facebook message that I now think was probably a phishing link. It didn't lead to a webpage, just to a blank screen. I know that Firefox has some protections, but I'm wondering if clicking on this link could have caused something that might be able to evade those protections.

Security settings I have in Firefox: "strict" tracking protection, delete cookies when Firefox is closed, show alerts about passwords for breached websites, no autofill, clear history when Firefox closes, block pop-up windows, warn when sites try to install add-ons, block dangerous content, query OCSP responder servers to confirm the current validity of certificates, https mode not enabled.

Could something get through those defenses, just from clicking on the link, and could it survive closing Firefox?

I have seen really mixed messages online and thought I'd come straight to the source. Thank you!
