Importing LDIF files into Mozilla Thunderbird
I reloaded Mozzila Thunderbird email. I then imported my email contacts backup file ( type: LDIF ). It loaded but every entry is now preceded by "mail=". And that is preceded by a blank profile image that I've never seen before also. I'm unable to locate any entry because of this appendage. The instructions are simple. I believe I'm selecting the only availbe choices for importing an LDIF file. Any solutions???

That small 'person' icon has been around since the dark ages :)

If you open the saved LDIF file using a simple text editor like Notepad, you should see something like this format - note this is just a simple example where I altered the actual name with generic 'jo bloggs'.
dn: cn=Jo Bloggs,email@example.com objectclass: top objectclass: person objectclass: organizationalPerson objectclass: inetOrgPerson objectclass: mozillaAbPersonAlpha givenName: Jo sn: Bloggs cn: Jo Bloggs mail: firstname.lastname@example.org modifytimestamp: 1590160512
What do you see? post info.
How did you create the LDIF file in the firs place? Did you export a Thunderbird address book and save in LDIF format ?
In Address Book - how to import LDIF
- Tools > Import
- select 'Address Books' and click on Next
- Select : Text file (LDIF, tab, csv, txt) and click on Next
- locate and select stored ldif file and click on Open
- click on Finish
