Can't recover Window/Session

November 9th my browser was having major issues with a PayPal transaction on eBay. At the time, I had two Firefox windows open. One with just one open tab, and another with probably 40-45 open, including my pinned tabs, and this was my primary, always open window.

I finally concluded the purchase and shutdown. The next day I saw that I no longer had my primary window open. No big deal, I went to recently closed windows. However, it did not appear there.

I'm thinking that's because I had to keep closing and relaunching the tiny PayPal window, that it cleared the cache of recent sessions. I am REALLY bummed out about this.

How can I restore this. Tried doing a Windows Restore, but this did not work as it seems to auto re-synch or something. HELP!

When you close the browser, it will record whatever windows/tabs are currently displayed. If you were to close the 'main' window first, it would not be saved.

You may have corrupt sessionstore [v56] sessionstore.jsonlz4 file(s). Delete all sessionstore* files and the sessionstore-backups folder.

Don't delete the files if you need to rescue any data from them, just move them out of the profile folder to some location where Firefox doesn't look for them. You can try to read out their contents using this tool: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/scrounger.html

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder

Linux: Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Directory. To its right press the button Open Directory.

Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.
