Thunderbird upgraded yesterday.
Thunderbird upgraded automatically yesterday and consequently I can no longer send emails. Every time I try I get this message: 'Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.optusnet.com.au failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.'
I have no idea how to solve the problem so any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. My computer is running Windows 7 Home Premium and my virus protection software is McAfee. Thank you John Officer

Try to start Windows 7 in safe mode with networking enabled.
Does the problem go away? This is a troubleshooting step, and not the solution for your problem.
Thank you. I tried your recommendation but it still didn't work. Thanks for your help however. Regards John
