My password I had 7 years but is now wrong. How can I get a new one or the old one to work?

I've used ThunderBird for nearly a decade, my password has stayed the same. Now my TB password is wrong & I never changed it. I finally had to buy a new computer, can't transfer over TB because it keeps asking for a password. Transferring instructions works until I get to password. How can I resolve this hair pulling dilemma. I use AT&T for my email.

Chosen solution

Use your current password to log into AT&T, create a secure mail key, delete the passwords from Saved Passwords in TB Preferences/Privacy & Security, restart TB and enter the secure key when asked for a password.
