Word wrap for viewing only, not composing?

I would like to be able to enable word wrapping when viewing incoming messages without enabling it for outgoing messages. In other words, I do not want any sort of word wrapping, line feeds, etc., applied to anything I send out, since apparently it looks strange when the recipients view it. But I do want word wrapping (tied to the width of the window, if possible) applied when I am viewing their messages to me. I don't like scrolling horizontally several times to read an entire paragraph on one line.

Is there a way to do both of these things? I haven't found one yet. Can these two items be separately controlled? What have I missed? I'm using Thunderbird 78.10.1, in case that matters.
