My preference is set to open old tabs, and yet after updates it doesn't. How to fix.

I did a system update (MAC Big Sur) last night, and opened Firefox after and the old tabs didn't open as they should. I checked the settings and it's set to open old tabs. How do I get them back and make sure this doesn't happen again?
