Using Mozilla VPN as a family

more options

Hi, we would like to use Mozilla VPN in our family (2 Parents, 3 Kids). In the moment we run 3 iPhones, 1 iPad, 2 Mac mini, 1 MacBook and 2 Windows 10-PCs and 1 Windows 10-Laptop. Every Person has its own Account on the Macs, MacBook, Windows-PCs and Windows-Laptop. What would be a reasonably VPN-Setting for us, as it says "Mozilla VPN" can be used on 5 devices. Could we share one Mozilla VPN let's say for the 3 iPhones, the iPad and the MacBook as those 5 devices are the ones, that most likely log in to a public WLAN? Is it ok, if different persons use the same Mozilla VPN? If it's not ok for different persons to use the same Mozilla VPN, is there a special price for families like us, maybe pay for the parents, get the children free? Thank you Frank

Hello Frank,

The Mozilla VPN is compatible with Windows 10 (64-bit only), macOS(10.14 and up), Android (version 8 and up), iOS (12.0 and up), and Linux (Ubuntu-only) devices.

I would like to clarify, every Mozilla VPN subscription is attached to a Firefox account. You can have up to 5 devices on a single subscription. Go to vpn.mozilla.org on each device and simply sign in to the Firefox account you used with your Mozilla VPN subscription. This will automatically add the device to your devices. Then the application should work normally.

I hope you find this helpful, and please let me know if you need anything else.

Hello Gaguilera,

thanks for the answer, that helped for two points. First, I understand Mozilla VPN is connected to the person as the login is connected to the Firefox account. Second, up to five devices can be connected to a single subscription. Good, but this leaves two other questions for families:

1. Can a device be connected to more than one subscription? In our family we have singel-user devices as iPhones and iPads and mulit-user devices as Macs and PCs. Right now I'm sitting on a Mac, logged on with my Apple-Account. Each person in our family has it's own Apple-Account to logon to this Mac. Let's say we have five subscriptions of Mozilla VPN and each member of our family adds this Mac to his/her subscription. Does this work? Can a device be connected to more than one subscription?

2. Cost. As we need these 5 subscriptions n our family the cost per year is 5 x 59,88 € = 299,40 €. This is quite a lot if you take into account that our children are aged 13, 8 and 7. For comparision, we pay 99,- € for MS Office 365 Home for the whole family. In my eyes, 99,- € would be a fair price to get five subscriptions of Mozilla VPN for the wohle family. Is Mozilla planning to offer special package-prices for families?

Thank you Frank
