ThunderBird unusual start up procedure
G'day from Down Under
i am using first install of new TB 78, on W10 laptop.. after click on desktop TB icon I see blue windows, and it goes to blank silver screen and it stalls. during trying to find a way around the stall I have stumbled across an unusual procedure , which works ,every time. I click lightly on the laptop keyboard blue light power icon , it blinks slowly , I then press spacebar , and TB then proceeds to the normal scenery picture screen on which I click and can then login my user name and TB activates and runs smoothly ... I can repeat this procedure every time ... why do I have to do this ? why does the unusual keyboard combination work ? last minute thought ... could it somehow be related to I do not have automatic updates allowed ? is there some TB coding expert who could answer this ? who ? how contact ? thanks to all who may read this and be able to help ..

Can't explain the keyboard trick, but is hardware acceleration enabled in TB Options/General/Indexing? If it is, disable it and see if TB restarts properly. If that doesn't work, try safe mode (hold Shift when launching TB). Safe mode includes disabling acceleration.
