Trouble setting up calendar to sync with webmail and phone
So many issues starting from a simple problem. My phone and my webmail are syncing my hotmail account. I want them to also since with my Thunderbird calendar on my laptop. I downloaded tbSync and Provider for CalDAV add-ons but couldn't seem to get either of them to work. I am unable to download Lightning because they don't seem to have one for my version of Thunderbird, 78.9.0. I've managed to find my .ics address of my webmail (hotmail) and put that in, but it keeps flipping back to READ ONLY, and won't let me edit any entries. Even when I edit entries on my webmail, my Thunderbird calendar duplicates everything and adds a whole bunch of "Private Appointment" listings that I have no idea what they are, they're not anything I've ever entered. This is so confusing! Such a simple goal, with a seemingly endless series of issues standing in the way. Can anyone help me, please?

With Hotmail/outlook.com accounts, you need TbSync and Provider for Exchange ActiveSync, which will then sync contacts and calendars. Lightning is built into TB 78, so there's no option or need to install a separate add-on. Add the account from TbSync Account actions, Add new account, Exchange ActiveSync.
Okay, so I had already downloaded TBSync, not sure what you mean by adding account from there, but then I added a new calendar account, not sure where to activate EAS. Sorry to be such a simpleton about this, but could you walk me through the whole process? I've added the new email account, added the .ics address, but it keeps going back to READ ONLY, so I can't delete stuff, even the stuff I've already deleted on my webmail, it just keeps putting stuff back into it. And it switches back to read only after every attempt to delete. I've tried deleting the calendar and starting over numerous times, same problems keep coming back. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If you install TbSync and Provider for Exchange ActiveSync, add the Hotmail account as shown in the attached picture. TbSync settings can be opened by clicking 'TbSync' at the right end of the Status Bar, or under Tools menu.
I guess I downloaded the wrong Provider. Once I found the EAS version, I was able to work through the process and finally made it happen! Thanks so much, great job!
