Typing a website in the address bar often results in a window asking for the user name and password for our router (an Orbi). I've tried both the network name and password, as well as the Orbi user name and password, with no success. It happens multiple times a day now, but only on sites we type in. Sometimes if I add https://www. to the beginning of the address it'll work, but often that doesn't solve it either.

Change your proxy settings.

You can check this at Options > General > Network Settings

If you don't use a proxy to connect to the Internet then select the "No Proxy" option.

There is a check box on the Network Settings page to prompt for a password.

  • Do not prompt for authentication if password is saved
