Every time I download anything a status bar showing the item I downloaded as a tab appears at the bottom of the screen. I cannot find any option to disable that so that it ceases to appear. It is a rather recent addition to Firefox so I'm guessing there's a hidden option somewhere that will allow me to achieve my goal.

Any suggestions, please?

Chosen solution

It's ok, I found it. It's a new addition to the extension "Download Manager S3" and it can be disabled in the extension's settings.

No, it hasn't been added. It looks like an addon. Examine your Addons.
