I did an Update to Firefox 86 and the Webbrowser crashed. Since then I'm not able to open any page. I reinstalled several times including deleting all folders and all records in Regestry I found. All what I can find is the following: Starter Process is deactivated after error. All details out of Error Report see in Troubleshooting Information

Hi kar16, sorry to hear about this problem.

When my Firefox became nearly completely inoperable after recently installing SnapCamera, I also reinstalled Firefox. After both installations I got errors about a problem with VCRUNTIME140_1.dll. Have you seen anything like that?

Even if you have not, you could consider reinstalling the shared VC Runtime files. I found a dedicated page to get the latest installers:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0

I downloaded and ran both the 32-bit and 64-bit installers in the first section of that article ("Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019"). Then I restarted Windows and all was normal again.

I don't know whether 64-bit users need the 32-bit install, but Windows didn't object when I ran it (I ran it first, then 64-bit second).

I don't know whether that will help you.

A shutdownhang means something is not closing/responding.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
