Hi! Often I want to archive a message after reading it. So I wonder if there is a shortcut to archive a message inside the message tab... Thanks.

Chosen solution

OK, I guess I missed the "select the desired messages" part in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/archived-messages. I thought it knew which message I mean when I have only one there....

Select the message to be archives in the thread pane and hit A.

Thanks for the reply. I'm aware of this shortcut. I would like to archive it inside the message pane with shortcuts. Going to the thread pane and selecting the message is tedious....

A works for me in a message tab as well.

Hi Matt, Thanks for the information. Is it supposed to work? I thought it was not supported, as I can not find any documentation about it.... If indeed it's supposed to work, I probably need to check my configurations....

BTW, I'm using 78.7.0 (64-bit) on Centos 8.3.2011

I guess it is working for me as I select the message in the list to open the tab, so the universal A is probably working on the selected message in the list tab not in the tab as such. But otherwise I don't think there is a shortcut.

Yes. Thanks for the confirmation. I think it's understood now that the message should be selected before applying the shortcut "A". But I don't see any good reason to have this requirement. When I'm in a message tab, and asked for archiving by pressing "A" on the keyboard, I mean to archive the thread....no matter if any of the message in the tread is selected. Does this make sense? Maybe the developers can consider implementing it in this way?
