I would create a new profile. Save anything, such as bookmarks, which you want to keep from the old profile. [Manager - Create, remove, or switch Firefox profiles] [- Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data]

. . . and tries the repair button

What are you talking about?

What's your computer system and Firefox version?

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

I Really need to not change accounts but i will try it. When i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program it sometimes offered a "repair Button" i tried it once and it went into like a boot loop. it started going through and installing the Firefox Installer over and over. sometimes when i install it it will give me an error code saying a missing DLL file but i am not sure which one. ever time i uninstall it i remove the installer as well. Im trying o start from scratch but i am not familiar with where fire fox stores everything. as far as the version i am not sure. i have been just going to the Fire Fox site and clicking the little pop up that says "get the Latest fire fox browser" I hope that gives all the info you need. i cannot use fire fox to find my version exacly like i have before.

I think that the "repair Button" is part of your computer system.

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

Do Not remove any profile folders.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

Do you recommend I Install The older version of fire fox? I'm running win 10 and I think I have found all of the program files you mentioned. Also i am not sure if this is related but i am getting a missing .dll file.

VCRUNTIME140_1.DLL

I only get this when i try to run divinci resolve but it started the same time fire fox stopped working.

I had that problem the other day after installing a new program; completely wrecked Firefox. You can download and reinstall the VCRuntime files from Microsoft here:

I installed both the 32-bit and the 64-bit, but I don't know if the 32-bit was really necessary. After the required reboot of Windows, Firefox was back to normal.
