Thunderbird email restoration
Not sure what topic fits. I love Thunderbird but after so many years, this is still an issue. I just had to reformat my computer because it probably had malware or a virus and it was running slow. I do the usual backup of emails and all (I do this about once or twice a year so I'm experienced at it). Reformat laptop, install everything back, all is good, except Thunderbird. For some reason, it refused my re-installing my profiles in the profile folder as usual. I've spent 3 days trying to figure out why it wouldn't work this time. What did I do wrong. Nothing. Found the answer this time. The .bak copies were screwing it up. After reading about 50 help articles, this one comment in one of the Mozzilla support groups worked. After so many years, can't we do something about the way the software saves stuff and can we make the software actually have a proper backup system of all emails and addresses? Even Microsoft Outlook has 2 ways, the backup(export/import) way and the manual way by going into the Roaming folder like Thunderbird does. And make the program be able to import this back up it just made. So yes, please, make the program have a proper backup and restoration bit on it so I can stop this extended wait of trying to recover my stuff.
