TB 78.6.1 running on OSX 10.14 won't connect to email server

Hello Support Forum, I'm running TB 78.6.1 on a Mac with OS Mojave 10.14. All was well until the other day when I started getting a message "Could not connect to server. Connection refused." I use a small provider and have contacted them, checked my IMAP and SMTP settings and they were as they should be. Any ideas how I can fix this? I can still get by email via the web, but Thunderbird is much better! Thanks in advance, Marcy
