Why have priority features been removed from new format? And why does new format remind me of DOS?

At some point two weeks ago Mozilla updated without my knowledge and I DO NOT like the new look. It reminds me of DOS or something.

Today when I wanted to prioritize an email I found out that I no longer have that option. In fact the options are much less than what used to be available. Did I get downgraded?

I am NOT a techie so what I want to know is, is it possible to revert back to the previous Mozilla? I was trying to find the version of the one I have now and it is 78.5.1. I read on your forum that version 78 was only for new users and I have been using this for years now.

Also, we do find that on both of our laptops there is lag in typing when online vs when writing emails off line. Any reason for that? Thanks JR

Priority is still available under the Options menu in the Write window; press Alt if the Options menu is hidden.

Ah yes, thanks sfhowes. That feature frankly has little value in today's email world. (and likely 99% of people never use)

Priority is still there in version 78, and still works. ejreifel, if it is not working for you then I'd say an add-on or something in your profile is causing a problem.

so far there is no one button based solution that can revert back to previous version of thunderbird. please check this Downgrade Thunderbird answer, see if its useful for you or not.

I'm not aware Thunderbird has any ability to prioritize anything. What exactly do you mean by "prioritize"?

Those issues tend to be caused by antivirus.

atErik I don't have the IT savvy to follow what is required to revert to a different TB version. I am curious as to why I got version 78 when I read that it was for new users.

The ALT key suggestion is helpful, but like may 'updates' it is annoying to have to do something different- and we are one of the few that actually DO need to alert our messages to some of our recipients.

AND still, why the annoying look? What was wrong with the old look?

thunderbird = TB is by default set to auto-update , user have to disable it by him/her-self if he/she doesn't want to auto-update.

i dislike TB's this behavior.

other apps will not do that, they/apps will notify you (when a new update is available, when user selected the option "check for update", but will not do auot-update, unless user him/her-self selects "allow auto-update"), and so other apps will ask you if you want to update or not, as choice/decision is at the hand of user, its his/her computer.

try to follow the top/1st section (instructions for TB GUI to disable auto-update) of Disable auto-update of Thunderbird.
