Revert to previous Thunderbird

I do not like the new Thunderbird appearance, inbox and all message folders contents are now widely spaced lists, folders list is widely spaced and needs scrolling to view all folders when previous versions had this in one vertical column, generally the shape and feel is retrograde.

There is no tool or config options to customise the appearance i.e. close the listing spacing or put boxes around buttons.

Something I hoped would appear in the upgrade but didn't is when an image is pasted onto a compose sheet the ability to reduce/enlarge the image would be so useful.

The new features might be very good for those who want them, but are something I would never use or need, and would like to turn them off; its sidewise tech like Lotus Notes finished Lotus corporation as a big player.

These changes are the classic mistake of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" in practice. I have used Thunderbird for 15 years and often sung its praises. If I can't to revert to the previous version, a better alternative will supersede it.

How does a non-techie person revert to the previous version please?
