Hi everybody! This new function "picture in picture" is bothering and prenvents from concentrating on the main subject. I tried everything announced to stop it including menu > options > deactivate control... but it still invites itself, no possible control. How may I stop that completely??? tks Lionel

After turning off the Enable picture-in-picture video controls, this button is deactivated.

Some websites have their own floating player that is shown automatically via JavaScript when the actual player is scrolled out of view. Other like YouTube can open a mini player if you click its button on the player. The Firefox PiP window only opens in you click the blue PiP button that appears if you hover the player. If autoplay is blocked then such a floating player shouldn't appear automatically.

You can look at these prefs on the the about:config page to see what settings work for you.

  • media.autoplay.default = 5 [0:allow;1:blockAudible;2:Prompt;5:blockAll]
  • media.autoplay.blocking_policy = 2
  • media.autoplay.allow-extension-background-pages = false
  • media.autoplay.block-event.enabled = true

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

So this is not our PiP. You have to ask the website owners about it.

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?

Can you attach a screenshot?
