Yahoo mail security authentication change

I am trying to set up Yahoo's authentication according to Thunderbird's helpful page which says

Select 'Menu app icon' > 'Account Settings' Select mail account name in left Pane Bottom right: click on 'Edit SMTP server' Set outgoing server (SMTP) 'Authentication Method' to 'Oauth2'

But that does not appear as an option in the drop down menu under authentication settings for "edit SMPT server." There are several settings such as "normal password" but NOT Oauth2 I think the incoming server is a POP server, and I found the Oauth2 option for that. But I can't find it for the outgoing SMPT server So what I do I do? Please explain as simply as possible. I am not very tech literate, though I can usually manage and I have got far enough to get stuck! 

I can't afford to risk losing the account and all the downloaded messages and I don't want the Yahoo account to stop working.
