Hi
Have you read this description of the junk process and training Thunderbird? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-junk-spam-messages
It explains that you need to spend some time setting junk or not junk for all incoming messages for a while if you want Thunderbird to learn to detect junk for you. You can also set whether Thunderbird scans messages from people in your address books.
If you still have trouble you can turn off the adaptive junk setting - for one account or multiple accounts. That setting is also shown in the article.
Hope this helps!
Also outlook have it's own filters so actually outlook online must be set for some emails to not move them to junk... If you use imap then you definitely should test w/o opening TB to see if moving to junk is not an outlook action...

Thanx, seems i need to also mark a few "good" msg's in order to train filter. will be back with results.
am i doing this right, i first select several msg's in main window, then press uppercase J button. ...thats it, but nothing happens to indicate the action worked thanks

re :then press uppercase J button. Just press J key - not 'Shift'+'J' All those messages you marked as junk should have moved to the 'Junk' / 'Spam' folder. That's assuming you have set up the Junk Controls for the account correctly.
WELL it specifically says upper case , not lower case [am trying to mark them as good, not junk] thanks

Modified
can anyone help please with this TB learning problem or clarify the advice given above as the advice seems to conflict with the article it links to.
i seem to be the idiot stuck in the middle not making any sense of it or getting any more help
thanks
Sorry, my misunderstanding, I did indeed think you were in eg: Inbox and wanted to mark as junk which is to select email and press j on keyboard to mark as junk and send to 'Junk' folder.
If you have message in 'Junk' folder that are good emails, then a selected email would offer the 'Not Junk' clickable option button. OR select email, press and hold 'Shift' key whilst pressing 'j' key (aka uppercase J) OR right click on highlighted email(s) and select 'Mark' > 'As not Junk'. In this case, you should notice a difference because the good 'not junk' emails should be removed fromt he Junk folder and returned to the Inbox folder.
If you are merely doing a bit of training on items that are good and currently in eg: Inbox
select email, press and hold 'Shift' key whilst pressing 'j' key (aka uppercase J)
OR right click on highlighted email(s) and select 'Mark' > 'As not Junk'.
You will not notice anything visually any different because nothing has occurred in the UI. The good 'not junk' email will still be in the Inbox.

Not true, Agnes. It has worked fine for years, and the problem happened all of a sudden, after one of the so called "updates". Hence, it has nothing to do, at least in my case, with learning AI.

I have been doing this for months with two senders. One is the largest business daily, the other is one the chambers of the commerce. Always got their emails properly, until some TB "update".
