After updating from Thunderbird 60 to 78 (first to 68 and then to 78) I have a visible window title bar (see screenshot: red area). When creating a clean profile then the window title bar does not exist. I have already tried to reset the UI but that did not help.

How can I fix this?

Chosen solution

Enabled that checkbox but nothing changed.

But I found the solution. "mail.tabs.drawInTitlebar" has to be set to true. This normally solves the behaviour I have. But I had additionally the setting "mail.tabs.autoHide" set to true. When "mail.tabs.autoHide" is true then "mail.tabs.drawInTitlebar" has no effect.

So short solution: "mail.tabs.drawInTitlebar" => true "mail.tabs.autoHide" => false

From the menu at the top right, go to Options. Scroll all the way to the bottom and click on Config Editor. Skip past the warning mail.tabs.drawInTitlebar change it to true Would it work?

"mail.tabs.drawInTitlebar" is already set to true. Tried changing it to false and back to true with restarts. It did not help.

re: "mail.tabs.drawInTitlebar" is already set to true.

If you were doing everything in new profile, see if another setting is overriding. Menu icon > Customise > Toolbar Layout A new window opens. Bottom left: select the checkbox 'Title Bar' Click on 'Done'
