Using windows 10, firefox 79.0, 64 bit.

Downloaded transmission so I could get the newest Linux Mint. Installed transmission. It did some odd cmd windows, and wanted a restart. Transmission didn't work for downloading Linux mint iso, so I uninstalled Transmission. I've used it before years ago.

But firefox, which had been working fine, stopped loading up any web page, wouldn't open up option screens, addon screens, bookmarks, or any screens. I uninstalled firefox, and reinstalled. Same thing. Uninstalled, reset, reinstalled. Same thing. Cleared cache, cookies, history, from beginning. Nothing. Turned off antivirus, no luck. Put firefox in safe mode, nothing. Did "refresh firefox", stopped all extensions, did "startup cache cleanup". Ensured no proxy settings. No luck. Did the run firefox -p command, removed profiles, created a new one. Nothing. I'm pretty sure I ran down all the list of troubleshooting things where "firefox doesn't work but other browsers will work" pages of mozilla.

What else should I try?

Thanks!!

Does the program folder where Firefox is installed contain any Autoconfig or policies.json files? The following articles describe more about where to look for those. Presumably these would only be present if the uninstall left some things behind.

Thank you for the reply and the links!

I see no autoconfig files, and no policies file in the default/pref folder. There is a channel-pref.js file, but that's all that's in the pref folder.
