Unpin Facebook and Google from Top Sites

After changing my search engine from Google to DuckDuckGo, Google placed an icon with a link to google search in my Top Sites and eliminated one of my chosen top sites. I cannot unpin the Google icon or the Facebook icon. Is there somthing special that needs to be done to get these icons off my Top Sites? Thanks for any help.
