Firefox will periodically broken at any time of day, in the middle of a work emergency, because it performed an update in the background. I am *not* looking to disable updates, which is all I can find information on. I still want the ability to install them when they're available or when I start or exit firefox, or whenever it might be. But I need to be able to have control the "feature" of Firefox just randomly and unpredictably crashing during the workday. How do I disable or workaround this feature?

Hi

I should be able to help with this.

  1. Type about:preferences in the addressbar.
  2. Under the General tab, scroll down to updates
  3. Check the option for Check for updates but let you choose to install them.

I hope this helps.
