Firefox bookmarks

Hi, When I turned on my computer this morning, my bookmarks were not there. I've tried the steps laid out by Firefox, but no success. I tried another browser, Safari, which I seldom use, and Safari bookmarks were still there. I have many different bookmarks in Firefox so I'd rather not switch over to Safari unless absolutely necessary. Nothing else is missing, so I doubt if I've been hacked. I did check a bank account, which was fine. I'm not a high profile person, so I doubt if I've been targeted. And I see the pic of the lock closed in the URL bar constantly. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. I'm on Mac OS 10.15.5 (Catalina) Firefox 78.0.1 (64bit) Thanks, JJ

Have you closed Firefox and then waited a few minutes before opening Firefox?
Are you missing any other Firefox data, like logins or browsing history?

Plus Firefox does automatic bookmarks backups, and saves like 14 backup files for the last 14 days that Firefox has been used. But we need to figure out what may have happened before you proceed in that direction. So they may not be "lost".
