Firefox wants to be the privacy-friendly alternative to google chrome. Unfortunately you can't download it without registering a google account and so therefore agree to googles privacy policy
As ChiefMike already said, the latest version you can download directly from Mozilla is 68.11.0
Please give users a google-free android the possibility to use an up-to-date firefox. Also, there should be a hint next to the Appstore/play store-download-button for direct download, so it's easier to find.

We're listening to your feedback and are aware that some of you may be experiencing technical issues, missing add-ons, or unhappy with how the browser works or looks.

We’re working hard to make improvements with every release. In fact, here’s what you can expect to see in Firefox for Android within the next three weeks:

View your tab history with a long-press of the back button
See frequently visited top sites on your Firefox home screen
Access your downloads directly in Firefox
Edit your saved logins or choose to never save them on specific sites
Set your tabs to auto-close and easily restore them later
Force a tab to refresh

You can see the full list of improvements we’re working on here. We really appreciate your patience as we work hard to make Firefox for Android better than ever.
