I have hundreds of folders called "From Internet Explorer" inside of these folders are different number of links sometimes hundreds of links that just say "Suggested Sites" with a globe at the start. I have no idea where they come from I don't have any of these in Bing/Explorer. Getting rid of them is very time consuming and I think they come back.

Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key
to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks.
Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.

On the left, you will see the folder 'tree.'
You can select folders and then delete them.

You get a "From Internet Explorer" folder if you import the IE favorites in Firefox.

I'm not sure how you would get multiple such "From Internet Explorer" folders.
e you possibly importing the bookmarks ?

If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync temporarily during troubleshooting.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

If errors are reported with "Verify Integrity", close and restart Firefox and retry.

If "Verify Integrity" cannot repair places.sqlite, rename/remove all places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from a recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

  • keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created
