A "service worker" is a kind of background thread sites can use to maintain continuity of services and provide updates in the background. I can't remember all the details of when "service workers" are enabled/disabled. I think if you have disabled "push" notifications that can prevent sites from creating service workers, and there are other settings. Hopefully another support volunteer can suggest more things to check.

This can either be a problem with using permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History) or with using "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" to clear cookies.
In case the latter applies is it usually sufficient to create a cookie allow exception for involved domains.
