"Authentication failure" when trying to do many deletes quickly
I have had this problem for a long time. I have several Gmail accounts I connect to with Thunderbird via IMAP. In general, things are working, I can list my inbox, read and reply to mail and delete mail.
But when I attempt to delete multiple messages quickly, I eventually see a an "Authentication failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.com" dialog pop up.
If I let Thunderbird sit for a little while, it will all clear itself up, and the messages eventually get deleted.
I have tried enabling IMAP logging with TB but did not see anything very useful.
I deleted some old non OAUTH2 saved passwords but that didn't appear to help either.
I am looking for advice or suggestions on what I can do?

What is the setting for deletions in Server Settings for 'When I delete a message'? The recommendation for gmail is 'Just mark it as deleted'. I don't know if that makes a difference with multiple deletions, but I would try it.
I will try 'Just mark as deleted'. First test seemed to work better. Looks like I can then hide them by using the 'Not Deleted' view. However, even with the 'Not Deleted' view active, as I delete more messages they don't automatically disappear from the view. I will tinker with that.
Deleted messages are marked with a red X and the text in the Threads Pane has a strikethrough. If you open another folder, then return to the first folder, deleted messages disappear from view.
After working this way for a week or so, In practice this works pretty well. I am generally flipping through panes and email accounts quite a bit so the messages marked as deleted disappear quickly. And will even disappear eventually just sitting on the same view (I think probably the next time it polls for new mail).
