Firefox cuts off forum and wordpress posts on most websites

more options

first i was thinking that this is only a Firefox addon issue (CookieMaster), but it might actually happen with other browsers too... although maybe it's still related to cookies only?

when i do some posting on some random forums, it always totally randomly cuts off half of the posts and even adds totally random phrases from the same post into totally random places, so the post gets either cut off or really hard to even understand because all of the text scrambling in it...

and that's not even all - now i edited some old wordpress post and then noticed that it has done the same exact word scrambling in it... so it's really hard to understand what is being said in 1 sentence again...

so why is it happening and how can i fix it?

(Opera and Chrome browser don't even allow to log in or do some other editing stuff in wordpress lol)

but it might actually happen with other browsers too . . .

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Malware has been known to get past such protection.

Hi screenshot, do you see scrambled characters in real time as you type, or does the problem occur after you submit the comment/post?

If you haven't already, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, any userChrome.css/userContent.css files, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem. Here's how:

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.)

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.

scrambled sentences appeared only after posting, but now i just ran malwarebytes and deleted some 11 stuff and now wordpress and 1 forum worked, but i still have to test 1 more forum soon...

it was basically just some random Scheduled task stuff(which numbers i didn't even see there) and 1 old .dll file entry that the antivirus probably removed like a while ago already, but it would still be weird if this actually fixed the issue...

omg... now i noticed that the forum post is actually scrambled up again(maybe becuase it was a bit longer and i didnt just notice it before), so it was definitely not fixed... (wordpress should be fine though)

Can you attach a screenshot ?

well, i cant even add a new topic into the forum (MyBB software; the other one was phpBB3) because it just deletes everything and just loads up the same "new thread" page again.

and now it just cut off another sentence again, making "new topics because it" /../ "cuts off most of my" into a new scramble like this: "new topics bt of my"... (so it basically cut off the whole "ecause it /../ cuts off mos" part and then just resumed from there...)

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to. You may also lose any settings for that website.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

i can try those later, but now i tried another forum, which is some custom coding, not installable power board and that said that i dont have cookies enabled in firefox... (after i tried to create a new topic) - altho i did have them enabled via cookiemaster and even switched all of it's subdomains as green via the buttons...

I'm not familiar with CookieMaster. Can you double-check the built-in cookie settings: Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them.
