When Firefox gets totally slow and one of the Firefox processes consumes 100% of one CPU, why does killing that process suddenly fix the slow browsing?
Usually killing a process kills the program, but not with Firefox, it makes it better. Totally weird.

The multi processes splits the load on tabs to multiple processes so if one crashes you don't lose the whole program. I suspect you might have some tabs that are being loaded up to 100% CPU on the second process, and killing it frees up that cpu and enable to the first process to keep trucking along
