Hi

It is really annoying that FF tries to store any passwords. Is there any possibility to turn off Lockwise compleatly?

Unfortunately it is not possible to do this via the settings menu, because the default settings cannot be changed at all.

Thanks for your help.

Your first screenshot shows that your Privacy & Security Logins and Passwords setting to enable or disable the Password Manager is "greyed out". The Password Manager - Remember, delete and edit logins and passwords in Firefox article under Disabling the Password Manager includes this note:

Note: If the Ask to save logins and passwords for websites setting is greyed out, Firefox may be set to never remember history or to always use private browsing mode. To restore normal browsing, go to your Privacy & Security settings under History and remove the check mark next to Always use private browsing mode, or select Remember history from the drop-down menu, and then restart Firefox.

Hi mymu, it looks from your screenshot as though Lockwise is disabled on your system. But Firefox still asks whether you want to save a login when you submit it, or suggesting saved logins when you return to a login form? If it isn't doing those things but is doing something else, could you describe it in more detail?

Hi jscher2000, it is not clear what FF does or don't. At the screenshot you can see, that FF is suggesting a password and tells me that it will save the password for me. It does not tell me if it does it to every password I enter, or only with the ones it suggests. Turning it compleatly off would be the best but it seems FF doen't let me.

Could you double-check as follows:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste signon and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the signon.autofillForms preference does not have a value of false, double-click it to switch the value to false

Any difference?
