Sync of emails and pocket not working - use imap on em but still have to delete mails from phone that were deleted ok on desktop and pocket content is different

using inmap on e-mail via BT yahoo mail - delete ems on desktop and they go but stay on phone so have to delete them separately but settings seem ok on phone. I use thunderbird on desktop not on phone as no android version I believe.

Sync of Pocket does not seem to work although when I set it up it says synced with phone but saved items are not appearing on both devices i.e. desktop and phone.

How do I overcome those issues PS I am not technical in the sense of being familiar with the guts of IT.
