I can't open JPG files I have attached to an outgoing email to verify them.

I'm on Thunderbird version 75.0. I often want to double check that the files I've attached to an outgoing message are the correct ones, before I send the email. Now this doesn't work for JPG files. When I double-click the attachment, nothing happens. I've also tried using "Open" but nothing happens then either. I don't have this problem with incoming attachments. The incoming attachment handler is set for TWINUI. I can open other kinds of files, like PDFs. It's just outgoing pictures....???
