My new emails are bold, but bold disappears in a few minutes, even if unopened?
As of about a week ago when I get a new email it is bold, but within X minutes the bold test is gone. This is a problem, because I am not always at the computer, and thus do not see most new messages bolded, which makes it very time consuming to go through and try to find and answer them. Help?

Thank You Agnes, I think this did it! I went in and unchecked the box (don't know how it GOT checked but, oh well) and a test email seems to stay. What a quick and helpful response!

Hi A couple of things that may affect this - There is a setting that sets when Thunderbird marks a message as read. Depending on which operating system and TB version you are using it should be in Options - Display - Advanced Tab. Check or uncheck box to automatically mark as read, and set delay before marking as read. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1246812 If you are using the message view pane, having the email showing in the pane counts as opening/reading it. I have the same problem (68.6.0). Cleared the check box about 'automatically mark messages as read' but it made no difference. New messages arrive and are not displayed in bold at all.
Re previous post, I've confused myself! I think that check box should normally be ticked but, various test messages later, the boldness seems hit and miss. Something else must be affecting the display?
