I can't get on a site that I previously could get on

more options

I routinely try to look at www.weather.com. When I click on it, I get the swirling thing saying it is trying to connect. Then it leaves me where I am. I tried opening it in another tab and the tab was blank. I don't know what is going on. I have tried everything to get it to work. I can't even tell them that their page isn't loading. Any ideas? I am also using Firefox 74.0 64 bit version. It has been about 2 weeks that is hasn't been showing up.

Are you using any content blocking extensions like posted above.

If clearing cache and cookies and "Forget About This Site" like I posted above doesn't help then this might be caused by an extension.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Did you check the Web Console ?

You can check the Web Console (Tools -> Web Developer) for messages about blocked content and about the presence of mixed or unsafe content.

You can check the Network Monitor to see if content is blocked or otherwise fails to load.

If necessary use "Ctrl+F5" or "Ctrl+Shift+R" (Mac: Command+Shift+R) to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox for a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data for that website will be saved once again.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows an highlighted shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar in case Tracking Protection is blocking content.

  • click the shield icon for more details and possibly disable the protection

You can check in the Web Console what content is blocked.

Cor-el...Thank you for your help. I cleared the cache...I noticed it said something needed to be done for the add-on of "Multiple Tab Handler"...I disabled this add-on...I can now visit that site...
