Following 75.0 update on Firefox Developer Edition, I am unable to access old accounts, create a master password, or customize my broswer. Any ideas?

So I have been Firefox Developer Edition on three different devices for the past year and just a few days ago on one of my devices, Firefox would not keep my theme settings, extensions, or accept my master password, so I closed Firefox. But that didn't help and since i needed to reboot my system anyway, I did a reboot and when I logged back on and tried to open Firefox it gave me an XUL Runner error saying that 75.0 is not compatible with min version >=74.0. So I uninstalled FDE and then re-downloaded it, reinstalled 75.0 since I do believe that the update to 75.0 had hung up on this particular device a week before. So then a day later my other two devices started having issues, so I tried to sign into another Firefox account, that didn't work so I did a reinstall and it seemed fine for a minute until I realized all my passwords/logins/history were gone, so I tried to sync again and then it gave me the message to set my master password, so I tried and kept getting the 'Cannot change master password' error. I have reinstalled twice and create a new Firefox account, tried to sign into an older one. I know someone will say just use the regular Firefox, but I use the FDE because my other Firefox browser is set with a work account that I keep to backup user data at work and I cannot use for my personal device. Any ideas?

Hi Liv:

You have a lot of Firefox add-ons; perhaps one or more of them is mis-behaving and causing these issues?

Please try Firefox Safe mode as documented here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems#w_start-firefox-in-safe-mode

If that fixes the problem, then read the rest of the above documentation on how to troubleshoot your add-ons.

Cheers!

When you are using Firefox Sync it is best to disable Sync on at least the device where you are having this problem before attempting to fix anything. It sounds like some type of corruption happened on the 1st device and you don't want to push that corruption thru Sync to the other devices. Any attempt to "fix" anything should be done with Sync disconnected, at least with the 1st device; but better to disconnect all devices from Sync until 'things' are fixed.

Also, if or when corruption does make it to the Sync server resetting the Firefox Account password will clear all your data from the Sync server, so you can get a clean, fresh load of data to the Sync server. But first you should open Help > Troubleshooting Information on ALL DEVICES and scroll down to the Places Database item and use the Verify Integrity button and allow the process to run to completion. That will check and fix as necessary your places.sqlite file on that device.

As far as logging into a 2nd Sync / Firefox Account goes, chances are that the corruption probably affected that FxAccount, too,

That said, I question the wisdom of having so many installed extensions on a pre-release version of Firefox; basically the Developer Edition of Firefox is a Beta build which 3rd party add-on developers may not stay on top of as far as updating it. Many wait to even check compatibility with the "next" version of Firefox until the "release candidate" stage of Beta development, which typically is like a week before the scheduled release date.
