I have not used my computer in 3 days. This morning I turned it on and all of my Bookmarks are gone. The menu bar is there and all that goes with it. Just NONE of my bookmarks are here

Sorry to hear about this problem. If you check the 3 categories in the Library window, can you find your bookmarks under a different category? To call that up, either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+B
  • "3-bar" menu button > Library > Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks

When you click Bookmarks Toolbar, or Bookmarks Menu, or Other Bookmarks in the left column, that category's contents will be listed on the right side.

Anything there?

If the bookmarks are shown there under Bookmarks Toolbar:

This could be a display problem where the Bookmarks Toolbar doesn't show the expected contents. You can reset the toolbar layout and see whether that solves it. Check this article for how to call up Customize, and use the "Restore defaults" button at the bottom of the panel.

Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars

If the bookmarks are not there, either:

Are you able to create new bookmarks? If not, there may be a database problem. More on that if needed.

If you can create new bookmarks, could you take a look at the following article -- it covers numerous scenarios:

Recover lost or missing Bookmarks

Any progress so far?

The Bookmarks Toolbar disappearing can be caused by a problem with using "Restore Previous Session" as the startup setting, so if you restore the session automatically on the next start then try to disable this feature.

  • Options/Preferences -> General -> Startup

Once the Bookmarks Toolbar has reappeared then you can re-enable the "Restore Previous Session" startup setting and check if the Bookmarks Toolbar stays visible on next starts.
