On trying to download emails I often get a message saying "Cannot connect securely because this site uses a protocol which isn't enabled." I have to click on the message a dozen times before I can get the email. How can I enable all security protocols?

You posted in the Firefox support fora queue. Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.

If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail" such as Yahoo!Mail or Gmail. You should seek support from your "web mail" service provider or a forum for that service.

If your problem is with Thunderbird, let us know and we can move this thread to the Thunderbird support queue.

Sorry folks, this probably should be in another forum - it is with Thunderbird that I have this problem, not Firefox. I will re-post, but meanwhile, can anyone help please?

If you are using GMail, you might have to go through their insane process to "allow an unsecure application" (i.e., any bog-standard email client) or some 2FA (maybe,, if that works). Because logging in via a web interface is somehow more secure.

Edit: This may not happen when using IMAP, not sure.
