</p><p>The location for <strong>global-messages-db.sqlite</strong> was described for a windows machine but you can get your pathname via the <strong>about:profiles </strong>tab mentioned by Matt prior.

</p><p>Trying what you suggested above opens thunderbird with my old profile and has the same issue as my original question, it's just a blank canvas.
</p><p>So, now running thunderbird with a fresh profile, maybe somebody cares to address this question instead of telling me I'm doing something wrong about some <em>other</em> question (the one where upgrading this software completely hosed my setup).
