When I scroll through a long Web page with lots of pics, my scroller will start scrolling really fast w/o me being able to control it. What gives?

I'm trying to scroll down a Web site with lots of pictures/graphics. Suddenly I "lose control" of the scroll bar and it starts scrolling down fast on its own and I am unable to control it. This does not happen when I use the Google browser. Is there a solution?
