After the update the accounts and mails went invisible, but mails are still received

After the update to the new major version, something broke. I still see all my mail accounts in the "get messages" dropdown menu and according to the popup window mails are still received and sorted via automated filtering into subfolders, but i can't see the accounts folders and mails in my window.

Trying to get to the dev console or any other settings menu option won't work, you can click but nothing happens. I tried safe mode and deactivated addons, but it doesn't change a thing. How can i figure out what is broken, is there some way to log everything to a terminal on windows?
