position reset after closing photo in Wikipedia

When I open a photo in a Wikipedia article (for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codex) and then I close it pressing Esc key, the page goes back to the top instead of to the previous position. This doesn't happen if I go back using the left key in the browser or Alt + left arrow key
